Junior Reid, Reggae Angels, Wada and Andrew Blood Steadfast Truth Tour July 2006

After a successful month-long tour April and May of 2005, Junior Reid and the Reggae Angels had a top performance at Reggae on the River August 2005, and Headlined The Dreadstock Festival in Vallejo CA , and also headlined the stadium Rocktober festivals on four of the Hawaii Islands . Now, a year later they embark on the road again to do a tour of festivals and club dates including the Northwest World Reggae Festival and The Victoria Ska Festival in Canada. Biography: Junior Reid Born on the 6th of June, Delroy "Junior" Reid grew up in the Waterhouse district of West Kingston. Junior began his career at an early age, gaining his initial inspiration from a tough upbringing. He recorded his first single ‘Know Myself' at age fourteen for the late singer Hugh Mundell, released in the U.K. on the Greensleeves label. He then went on to form his own band, The Voice of Progress, and after a local hit with ‘Minibus Driver' the group's success was established with the album of the same name. At the age of eighteen, Junior was asked to join Black Uhuru as lead singer. The group completed their transformation to international status while he was a member, nominated twice for a Grammy Award in the Reggae category.  After many changes in the music business and an agreed separation among the members of Black Uhuru, Junior returned to the solo arena and started his own production company, J.R. Productions. Roots Reggae Hits The U.S. Capitol Area

Assassin, Tami Chynn and Cutty Ranks team up with reggae singer Elan     Remember Tony Kelly’s Buy Out rhythm? Not only did it contain the Sean Paul hit Like Glue and the Beenie Man nugget Miss LAP, but it also featured Gal Dem Every time by white reggae singer Elan.     Elan is now signed to No Doubt member Tony Kanal’s record label Kingsbury Studios. Elan’s debut album Together as One is due out on May 23 and will be distributed by Interscope Records.     Assassin, Tami Chynn, Cutty Ranks and Sly and Robbie appear on Elan’s album.        · Billboard chart hitter Mr. Vegas back on the charts with Do You Know      Reggae star Mr. Vegas has hit the Billboard charts in the past with songs including Pull Up, Heads High and Hot Gal Today (with Sean Paul).  Do You Know is the latest hit for Mr. Vegas. Released on the Fi Wi Music label, the song has started its lap up the New York Reggae chart, where it debuted at number 24. It also figured on several overseas reggae charts.            · Tony Matterhorn’s Dutty Wine creating waves        RE-TV Veejay Supa Hype’s Smash rhythm has scored with the inescapable Dutty Wine tune from sound system selector Tony Matterhorn.  Matterhorn’s tune has been creating waves over the past few months, and has already begun its journey on various charts.        Matterhorn is the third sound system selector to have hit the charts within the past four years. Richie Feelings (Stone Love selector) and Asylum sound system selector Sultex have also had chart hits.           · Jamaica’s answer to American Idol, returns this weekend          With the success of the Digicel Rising Stars talent series (Jamaica’s equivalent to the popular American Idol series) over the past two years, the organizers should expect a bumper crowd at the first audition, which will kick off this Saturday April 8 at Pier One in Montego Bay.  Other audition dates are April 22 at Fayor’s Entertainment Complex in Mandeville; April 29 at Wavz Entertainment Centre in Negril; May 6 at Island Village, Ocho Rios; and May 13 at the National Stadium in Kingston.        Digicel Rising Stars is open to anyone over the age of 16, who isn’t currently signed to a management or recording contract, and is a citizen of Jamaica. At the auditions, participants may either perform individually or in groups of up to six. Participants, who are unsuccessful at one location, may audition at any other location.        The prizes have been increased this year. The first place winner will collect a cool $1 million and a management contract with Shocking Vibes Productions.
