Ms. Anna Fisher named in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers by a former accomplished student

Ms. Anna Fisher named in "Who's Who Among America's
Teachers 2005 – 2006" by a former accomplished student
who says she was the one teacher who made a difference
in his or her life. Only students who've been cited
themselves in "Who's Who of American High School
Students, Who's Who Among American High School
Students – Sports Edition, The National Dean's List
and The Chancellor's List are invited to nominate one
teacher from their entire academic experience.

She was also nominated for the First Annual Joe Higgs
Music Award this week to be announced December 8, 2006
in Miami at Florida International University's Koven's
Conference Center. Last month she attended the Grammys
as the album she recorded with Jamaica's most famous
band, Third World, "Black Gold Green" was nominated.

Anna Fisher also known as Nancy Fish Liburd started
teaching professionally in 1982. She served the U.S.
Virgin Islands Department of Education on St. John as
elementary music teacher until 1992 when she was hired
by the Department of Education and the University of
Hawaii – Hilo, Hawaii she taught in a special arts
program for Native Hawaiian Children and as a
substitute. In urban Los Angeles, she taught in a
Korean preschool.

Her latest assignment over the past ten years has been
for Los Angeles Unified School District teaching
English Learners in the elementary grades. She is the
cadre chair of an Arts Program she and 11 other
teachers wrote a grant for under her leadership. She
earned an Appreciation Award from the Community Forum
For Education in 2001. This Thursday, her school,
Wilton Place School of District 3 in
Koreatown/Mid-Wilshire will be reviewed by the
California Distinguished Schools organization as it
has been selected for notice. By Thursday afternoon,
we will hear the final decision!

This year she was granted the 'Unsigned Artist of the
Year' Award at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood from
the One Child Our Village Foundation in Watts where
violence and drugs have prevented many from
accomplishing their dreams. A headliner on the Watts
Summer Festival this year, she shared the stage with
legendary Watts Prophets and Motown's own Brenda

She attained a Bachelor of Music degree from North
Carolina School of the Arts in 1993 in oboe and
English horn Performance. In 1998, she completed her
Masters Degree in Education (Instructional
Leadership)at National University in Los Angeles.

Her early musical training started from birth with her
father Joseph K. Fish a child prodigy pianist and MIT
Physicist. Her first teacher, her mother Charlotte
Fish has been an advocate for children and the
educational environment her entire life. Grandmother
Ruth Elizabeth Anthony Sawyer, was little Nancy's
greatest influence besides her Great Great Aunt Mary a
school teacher for the town of Saugus for over 50

She owns her own recording label and was herself
recognized in 1976-77 in "Who's Who Among America's
High School students".

She has two children, Monique Elizabeth Liburd, 20 a
first year law student at Boalt Hall University of
California Berkeley and Lincoln Sylvester Liburd, 14 a
tenth grader at Coral Bay School St. John, US Virgin
Islands. Both are extraordinary scholars and earning
awards and medals. Both born on St. Thomas US Virgin
Islands, they have traveled half the world and
brightened many faces themselves! They have attended
schools in the US Virgin Islands, Hawaii Island, and
Los Angeles Unified School District prior to their
respective current institutes of study.

Anna's mother, Charlotte Fish Lacey was also a teacher
at the same school on St. John when she retired three
years ago.
