Reggae CD Review: Tanya Stephens – The Rebelution

Album: The Rebelution
Artist: Tanya Stephens
Label: VP
Leanne Clifford
Rating: 4/5
Yes she’s back again, bigger and better than ever. I can imagine there was some pressure to live upto, with her past successes such as “It’s A Pity” but she’s done accomplished that with ease.

Every track full of flavour and a jiggy riddim, she puts it on us with 110% of sheer talent and determination.

With tracks such as:

Put It On You
Saturday Morning (about a regretted one night stand)
Keep Looking Up
Who Is Tanya
To The Limit
These Streets
Do You Still Care
Cherry Brandy
To The Rescue

2 of my favourite tracks on the album being
“Still A Go Lose” and “The Truth.” The truth is a deep tune, slightly sad but with a nice mellow riddim.

All about putting on a brave face and letting that special person think your doing ok when really your doing crap without them. Thats how i judged it but you’ll have to buy the album and interpret for yourself what it means to you.

Another good track full of feeling is “Damn You” about a woman watching the man she loves marrying someone else.

This album is packed with so many different emotions, im sure your all gonna feel it 4 real.
Respect Tanya, Im sure this album is gonna be a great success across the globe.

One Love

The young deejay erupted on the music scene in 1999 with a song called ‘Street Dreams’ done on the Crash rhythm for Byron Murray’s In The Streets Records Label. The song did well on the local charts and signaled the arrival of this gifted deejay in the dancehall arena. Armed with his ‘throaty’ voice, unique toasting and ‘poster-boy’ image, Alozade seized the initiative and took the dancehall by storm, consistently unleashing hits after hit. Prior to that, having desire to make it in the music business as a deejay, the former Ardenne Extension High student voiced his debut single ‘Top Of The Line’ for the Stone Love label. He then did ‘Mr. Mention’, for African Star label and gained much needed recognition for those efforts. It was shortly after, that he linked up with Byron Murray at In The Street Records where he recorded the big hit song ‘Sweet Dreams’.The Song propelled the young deejay into stardom as it became very popular thoughout the dancehall circles. Alozade showed that he was no hit wonder by scoring another hit song In The Street Records, this time with a song titled ‘Under Mi Skunk’. In the year 2000 he teamed up with producer Louis ”Flabba”Malcom and did the monster hit song ‘Bad Man Nuh Pet Nuh Gal’ on the ‘Infectious’hurricane rythm. Find out more:
