The 9th Annual Reggae in the Hills kicks off Dec 25th
|Lincoln ‘Sugar’ Minott and Youth Promotion in association with Express Fencing and Black Roots Production Ltd. are proud to announce the 9th staging of the annual “Reggae in the Hills” Family Fun Day, Kiddies Treat and Stage Show to be held as usual on the grounds of the Sargeantville All Age School, Harkers Hall, St. Catherine.
Last year’s event was our most successful showing ever in terms of organization, media visibility and crowd support; we also undertook to erect some eleven hundred feet of fencing for the playfield that serves both the Sargeantville All Age and the Harkers Hall Basic School in Harkers Hall, St. Catherine as our charitable contribution. We were successful in accomplishing 65% of the target and so for this year we are attempting to complete this project.
Event kicks off with a Media Launch on December 10 2007. Then on the 25th, the Family Fun Day starts at 10:00 a.m. activities will include bounce-a-bout, merry-go-round and other rides, a concert including talent search, dance and other contests. Various treats, prizes and surprises will be offered to the children attending while a sound system will provide tasteful and appropriate music throughout the day. A minimal admission fee will be charged.
The Fun Day will end at 6 p.m., at which time the grounds will be cleared in preparation for the main event – the 9th annual Reggae in the Hills stage show. This show, headlined by host “Sugar” Minott, will start at approximately 8 p.m, other artistes confirmed so far include: Marcia Griffiths, Freddie McGregor, Luciano, Mikey General, Capleton, Sizzla, Little John, Triston Palmer, Tony Tuff, Courtney Melody, Benji Myers, Bunny Brown, Lenky Roy, Anthony Cruz and Junior Reid. The Youth Promotion talent family will also be on show.
This year’s show will also be dedicated to honoring the memory of the late, great Joseph “Culture” Hill, a native of an adjoining community to the venue(Long Hill near Above Rocks). This will take the form of musical tributes by some of the artistes on show and also the handing over of a commemorative plaque, donated by Youth Promotion, to his family.
Popular Sound Systems will provide music before, during interludes and after the concert. Vending booths will remain operational during the entire event. The show culminates with host Sugar Minott and other super stars bringing down the curtain in fine style. Police and uniformed security guards will provide security for the duration of the event.
